Erodevano is a fictional language created for worldbuilding and described in the Erodeva Project lexicon. It is spoken by the Erodevan people of the Erodeva archipelago, located in the southern sea of Nera. In the in-universe timeline, the language forms the core of Erodevan identity and literature.

Linguistic features: Erodevano is an agglutinative, subject–object–verb language, with rich case marking on nominals and postpositions. The phonology includes five vowels and a consonant inventory including p, t, k, m, n, s, l, r, w, y, and a glottal stop. Word formation relies heavily on affixation; noun incorporation and compounding are common. Pronouns differentiate inclusive and exclusive in the first person.

Writing and orthography: The script, called Erodevian, is an alphabet with 24 graphemes, plus diacritics to indicate vowel harmony and tense. Orthography is largely phonemic for most everyday words, with historical spellings reflecting older phonology.

History and society: Erodevano developed from contact between island communities around the first millennium CE in the fictional setting. It was standardized by scholars in the medieval era and remains central to education, religion, and literature in the archipelago. Dialects include a northern and a southern variety, with mutual intelligibility high but notable lexical divergence.

Current status: In the canonical timeline, Erodevano is taught in schools on select islands and used in media and ceremonial contexts. It is considered endangered in some urban pockets, with revival efforts and dictionaries produced by cultural institutions.
