Epämetalliin is a Finnish term that translates to "nonmetal" in English. Nonmetals are a category of chemical elements that do not exhibit the properties of metals. Unlike metals, nonmetals are generally poor conductors of heat and electricity. They are often brittle when solid and tend to gain electrons in chemical reactions, forming negative ions.
