engramm
An engram is a hypothetical physical or chemical trace in the brain that is created during the formation of a memory. The term engram was coined by the pioneering neuroscientist Richard Semon in 1904. Semon proposed that during learning, a process called "engraphy" caused changes in the neurons, and these changes constituted the engram. These changes were thought to be stable and capable of being re-activated later to recall the memory.
The exact nature of an engram has been a subject of intense scientific inquiry for decades. While
Neuroscientists are actively researching the molecular and cellular mechanisms that underlie memory formation and storage. Techniques
