It can soften a claim, invite agreement, or signal acknowledgment of the listener’s perspective.

Etymology: In the in-world account, ením derives from a verb root en- meaning “to approach” and a suffix -ím, forming a marker attached to the end of a clause to signal stance rather than a lexical meaning.

Usage and grammar: Ením is a clitic that attaches to the end of the verb phrase or clause. It appears in declaratives and questions and is not inflected for tense. Two common tones exist: neutral ením and emphatic ením, the latter marked by stronger pitch. Some dialects permit early placement for contrast.
