Elektromosítottság, a term in physics, refers to the condition of an object or system possessing a net electric charge. This means that the number of positively charged particles (protons) within the object is not equal to the number of negatively charged particles (electrons). If an object has more protons than electrons, it is said to be positively charged. Conversely, if it has more electrons than protons, it is negatively charged. An object with an equal number of protons and electrons is electrically neutral.

The process by which an object becomes electrically charged is called electrification. This can occur through several mechanisms, including friction (triboelectric effect), conduction, or induction. When two different materials are rubbed together, electrons can be transferred from one material to the other, resulting in one becoming positively charged and the other negatively charged. Conduction involves the direct transfer of charge through contact. Induction, on the other hand, is a method of charging an object without direct contact, by bringing a charged object nearby and then grounding the uncharged object to allow charge to flow.

The presence of electric charge is responsible for many observable phenomena, such as the attraction or repulsion between objects. Like charges repel each other, while opposite charges attract.
