The present tense form is dumarating (is arriving; coming), while the future is darating (will arrive; will come).

Used with people, events, or objects, dumating appears in sentences such as Dumating ang bisita kahapon (The guests arrived yesterday), Kailan dumating si Maria? (When did Maria arrive?), and Hindi pa dumating ang pagkain (The food has not arrived yet). In figurative language, phrases like dumating na ang panahon or darating ang oras mean "the time has come" or "the moment has arrived." The root dating is distinct from the English-similar term dating; in Filipino, dating is a separate verb meaning to come.
