drejtkëndësi

Drejtkëndësi is the Albanian word for rectangle. A rectangle is a quadrilateral with four right angles. This means all four interior angles measure 90 degrees. As a result, opposite sides of a rectangle are parallel and equal in length.

The properties of a drejtkëndësi are fundamental in geometry. Its area is calculated by multiplying the length of its two adjacent sides, typically referred to as length (gjatësia) and width (gjerësia). The formula for the area is A = gjatësia × gjerësia. The perimeter of a drejtkëndësi is the sum of the lengths of all its sides. Since opposite sides are equal, the formula for the perimeter is P = 2 × (gjatësia + gjerësia).

A square (katror) is a special type of drejtkëndësi where all four sides are of equal length. In this case, gjatësia = gjerësia. The diagonals of a drejtkëndësi bisect each other and are equal in length. These diagonals divide the rectangle into two congruent right-angled triangles.

Drejtkëndësi shapes are ubiquitous in everyday life, appearing in windows, doors, books, screens, and many architectural designs. They are a basic building block in geometry and are used extensively in fields such as engineering, art, and design.
