Dragrelease is an open-source file system mounter for Linux, macOS, and Windows operating systems. It was first released in 2008 and has since maintained a dedicated community of users and contributors.

The primary purpose of Dragrelease is to expand upon the functionality of Unix's mount command, allowing users to create symbolic links to removable media in a more efficient and user-friendly manner. When removable media is inserted into a computer, Dragrelease enables users to create a symbolic link to that media, essentially "mounting" it to their system's file hierarchy.

This allows users to access the contents of their removable media, such as flash drives or DVDs, with a simple drag-and-drop interface, similar to how they would interact with files on their local computer. Dragrelease also includes features that allow users to specify specific attributes and permissions for symbolic links, affording them greater control over the behavior of mounted media.
