Disperszívek, often translated as dispersants or dispersing agents, are chemical additives used to prevent the agglomeration and settling of solid particles in a liquid medium. They function by adsorbing onto the surface of the particles, imparting either an electrostatic or steric repulsion between them. This repulsion keeps the particles uniformly suspended, creating a stable dispersion.

The mechanism of action for dispersants varies depending on their chemical structure. Electrostatic dispersants carry charged functional groups that create repulsive forces between similarly charged particles. Steric dispersants, on the other hand, have long polymer chains that extend from the particle surface, physically preventing particles from coming into close contact.
