dihüdraadina
Dihydralazine is a peripheral vasodilator medication. It is a derivative of hydralazine and acts by relaxing the smooth muscle in the walls of blood vessels, leading to a decrease in blood pressure. Dihydralazine is primarily used in the treatment of hypertension, particularly in situations where a rapid reduction in blood pressure is desired. It can be administered intravenously or orally. Its mechanism of action involves interfering with calcium ions in vascular smooth muscle, reducing their availability for contraction. Common side effects may include headache, flushing, dizziness, and reflex tachycardia, which is an increased heart rate. Due to its vasodilatory effects, it can also cause fluid retention. Dihydralazine is metabolized in the liver. Its use is generally reserved for more severe cases of hypertension or when other antihypertensive agents have proven ineffective. Monitoring of blood pressure and heart rate is important during treatment. It is not typically used as a first-line treatment for mild hypertension.
