Digitaalmodulatsioonid refer to the process of encoding digital information onto an analog carrier signal. This is a fundamental technique in digital communication systems, allowing data to be transmitted over channels originally designed for analog signals, such as radio waves or telephone lines. The core idea is to vary one or more properties of the carrier wave, such as its amplitude, frequency, or phase, in accordance with the digital data bits (0s and 1s).

Common digital modulation techniques include Amplitude Shift Keying (ASK), where the amplitude of the carrier wave is switched between two or more levels to represent different digital symbols. Frequency Shift Keying (FSK) uses different frequencies of the carrier wave for each digital symbol. Phase Shift Keying (PSK) modifies the phase of the carrier wave. Quadrature Amplitude Modulation (QAM) combines both amplitude and phase modulation to transmit multiple bits per symbol, thereby increasing data rates.
