A demodulator is an electronic circuit or device that performs demodulation, the process of extracting information from a carrier wave. This is the reverse process of modulation, where information is superimposed onto a carrier signal. Demodulators are essential components in radio receivers, telecommunications systems, and various other electronic devices that receive transmitted signals.

There are several types of demodulators, each suited for different modulation schemes. Amplitude demodulators, such as envelope detectors, are used for Amplitude Modulation (AM) signals.
