Demodulációját, often translated as demodulation, is the process of extracting the original information signal from a modulated carrier wave. In telecommunications and signal processing, modulation is used to transmit information over a channel by embedding it within a higher-frequency carrier signal. Demodulation is the reverse process, performed by the receiver, to recover the original data.

Different modulation schemes exist, such as Amplitude Modulation (AM), Frequency Modulation (FM), and Phase Modulation (PM). Each requires a specific demodulation technique. For AM, a common demodulator is an envelope detector, which essentially rectifies and filters the modulated signal to recover the amplitude variations corresponding to the original information. For FM, a frequency discriminator or a phase-locked loop (PLL) can be used to convert frequency variations back into an audio or data signal. Similarly, PM demodulators are designed to detect changes in the phase of the carrier wave.

The effectiveness of a demodulator is often measured by its ability to accurately reconstruct the original signal while minimizing noise and interference. The choice of demodulation technique is dictated by the type of modulation used, the desired fidelity of the recovered signal, and the characteristics of the transmission channel.
