Demoduláláshoz, often translated as demodulation, is the process of extracting the original information signal from a modulated carrier wave. In telecommunications and signal processing, modulation is used to impress information onto a carrier signal for efficient transmission over a channel. Demodulation is the inverse operation, performed at the receiving end to recover the original data.

Different types of modulation require specific demodulation techniques. For example, amplitude modulation (AM) is demodulated by detecting the amplitude variations of the carrier signal. This can be achieved using a simple envelope detector, which essentially tracks the upper or lower envelope of the modulated waveform. Frequency modulation (FM) is demodulated by extracting the frequency variations. Common FM demodulators include the discriminator and the phase-locked loop (PLL). Phase modulation (PM) demodulation involves recovering the phase shifts of the carrier.

The goal of demodulation is to accurately reproduce the original information signal with minimal distortion or noise. The effectiveness of a demodulator is often measured by its sensitivity, selectivity, and noise immunity. Advanced demodulation techniques are employed in complex digital communication systems, such as quadrature amplitude modulation (QAM) and phase-shift keying (PSK), which utilize digital signal processing to decode the transmitted information. The choice of demodulation method is directly tied to the modulation scheme used for transmission.
