A delmængderelation, often referred to as a subset relation, describes the relationship between two sets where all elements of one set are also contained within another set. If set A is a subset of set B, denoted as A ⊆ B, it means that for every element x, if x is in A, then x must also be in B. The set A is called a proper subset of B, denoted as A ⊂ B, if A is a subset of B and A is not equal to B. This implies that there must be at least one element in B that is not in A.
Every set is considered a subset of itself. The empty set, denoted by ∅, is a subset of
