Deductivism refers to a philosophical approach to reasoning and knowledge acquisition that emphasizes the use of deductive logic. In a deductive system, conclusions are guaranteed to be true if the premises are true. This contrasts with inductive reasoning, which draws general conclusions from specific observations, where the conclusions are probable but not certain. Deductivism is often associated with mathematics and formal logic, where proofs are constructed by deriving theorems from axioms through a series of logical steps.
