Damprated is a term used to describe the specification of a damper, a device that resists motion to suppress oscillations and control vibration. A damper’s rating conveys its expected performance under defined conditions, such as the resistance it provides at a given velocity and stroke, often with notes on temperature or life-cycle limits. Ratings may be expressed as a damping coefficient, a maximum damping force at a specified velocity, or a set of curves showing force versus displacement or velocity.
