Corbicula is a genus of freshwater clams, commonly known as Asian clams or basket clams. These bivalve mollusks are native to East Asia, but have become widely distributed and are considered an invasive species in many parts of the world, including North America and Europe. They are small, typically less than 5 cm in length, with a rounded, ovate shell that is usually grayish-white or brown. The shell's surface often has concentric growth rings.
Corbicula are filter feeders, consuming plankton and organic detritus from the water. They are known for their
