Corbicula is a genus of freshwater clams, commonly known as Asian clams or basket clams. These bivalve mollusks are native to East Asia, but have become widely distributed and are considered an invasive species in many parts of the world, including North America and Europe. They are small, typically less than 5 cm in length, with a rounded, ovate shell that is usually grayish-white or brown. The shell's surface often has concentric growth rings.

Corbicula are filter feeders, consuming plankton and organic detritus from the water. They are known for their ability to tolerate a wide range of environmental conditions, including varying water temperatures, salinities, and pollution levels, which contributes to their invasive success. They reproduce rapidly and can form dense populations, often outcompeting native species for food and space. Their presence can alter aquatic ecosystems by increasing water clarity due to their efficient filtering, but also by depleting resources and impacting food webs. In some areas, they can clog water intake pipes and industrial equipment, causing economic damage.
