citep
citep is a command used in LaTeX to cite references within a document. It is part of the BibTeX and BibLaTeX systems, which are commonly used for managing bibliographies in LaTeX. When citep is used, it inserts a citation marker in the text, typically enclosed in parentheses. For example, if a citation is made using citep{myref}, the output might appear as (Author, Year) or a similar format depending on the chosen citation style. The 'p' in citep stands for 'parenthetical', indicating that the citation should be presented in a parenthetical form. This is distinct from commands like `citet`, which produce a textual citation (e.g., "Author (Year)"). The specific appearance of the citation generated by citep is determined by the bibliography style file (.bst for BibTeX or .sty for BibLaTeX) being used. Proper usage of citep requires a corresponding entry in a BibTeX (.bib) database file, which contains the details of the referenced work. This database is processed separately to generate the bibliography that appears at the end of the document.
