cis2buteen
Cis-2-butene is an organic compound with the chemical formula C4H8. It is one of three structural isomers of butene, the others being trans-2-butene and 1-butene. In cis-2-butene, the two methyl groups are located on the same side of the double bond. This geometric arrangement is a consequence of the restricted rotation around the carbon-carbon double bond. It is a colorless gas at room temperature and pressure.
The physical properties of cis-2-butene differ from its isomers. It has a lower boiling point than trans-2-butene.
The double bond in cis-2-butene is susceptible to electrophilic addition reactions, similar to other alkenes. Reactions
