Chiado is a historic neighborhood in central Lisbon, Portugal. It lies between the Bairro Alto district and the Baixa Pombalina, near the Tagus River. The area developed as a commercial and cultural hub from the 18th century onward and remains one of Lisbon's main centers for cafés, bookstores, and theatres.
