The process typically involves the following steps: the entity generates a public-private key pair, creates a Certificate Signing Request (CSR) containing its public key and identity information, and submits the CSR to a CA. The CA verifies the entity's identity and, if satisfied, issues a digital certificate that includes the entity's public key, identity information, and the CA's digital signature. This certificate is then used to authenticate the entity in subsequent communications.
