Centrosomistas refers to a historical scientific viewpoint that emphasized the primary role of the centrosome in cell division. Proponents of this view believed that the centrosome was the central organizing structure that dictated the formation and function of the spindle apparatus during mitosis and meiosis. This perspective suggested that the centrosome initiated the process of chromosome segregation and was essential for proper cell proliferation.

The centrosomista viewpoint was particularly prominent in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Researchers focused on the centrosome's morphology and its consistent presence in dividing cells to support their hypothesis. They observed that the centrosome duplicated before cell division and that the two centrosomes migrated to opposite poles of the cell, serving as anchors for the spindle fibers.

However, as research progressed, evidence emerged that challenged the exclusive dominance of the centrosome.
