centralhypotyreos
Centralhypotyreos is a hypothetical medical condition characterized by a deficiency in thyroid hormone production originating from a dysfunction within the central nervous system, specifically the hypothalamus and pituitary gland. Unlike primary hypothyroidism, which arises from a problem with the thyroid gland itself, centralhypotyreos implies that the signals from the brain responsible for stimulating the thyroid are insufficient or absent. The hypothalamus, located at the base of the brain, produces thyrotropin-releasing hormone (TRH), which in turn signals the pituitary gland to release thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH). TSH then acts on the thyroid gland to produce thyroid hormones, primarily thyroxine (T4) and triiodothyronine (T3).
In centralhypotyreos, either the hypothalamus fails to produce enough TRH, or the pituitary gland is unable
