Celownikiem is the instrumental singular form of the Polish noun celownik. The noun celownik has two main senses. In grammar, celownik denotes the dative case, which marks the recipient or the indirect object of an action. In firearms and optical equipment, celownik refers to the sighting or aiming device on a weapon. The same word thus appears in linguistic or technical contexts with different meanings depending on the subject.

The term is built from the root cel- meaning goal or aim, combined with the suffix -ownik, which often forms nouns denoting a device or instrument. As a grammatical inflected form, celownikiem is used when referring to the instrument or in metalinguistic discussions about the form itself. In the sense of a firearm component, cełownik or celownik describes a physical part used to align the sight with the target, including elements such as the front sight and rear sight.

The instrumental form celownikiem appears in sentences where the noun is treated as an instrument or in examples that illustrate inflection.
