Bugisid is a term that refers to people of Bugis descent, an ethnic group indigenous to the southern part of Sulawesi island in Indonesia. The Bugis are known for their seafaring traditions, historical kingdoms, and distinct cultural practices. Historically, Bugis people were renowned traders, navigators, and warriors, undertaking long voyages across the Indonesian archipelago and beyond. Their society was organized into a feudal system with distinct social classes.

Bugis culture is rich and complex, encompassing a unique language (Bahasa Bugis), traditional music and dance, intricate weaving (sarong), and a strong emphasis on kinship and community. They are also known for their martial arts, known as "mappalette" or "pasompe," and their traditional sailing vessels, the pinisi. Despite significant assimilation and modernization, many Bugis individuals and communities maintain a strong connection to their heritage.
