Biståndssektorn refers to the sector of society involved in providing development assistance, also known as foreign aid. The Swedish word "bistånd" directly translates to "aid" or "assistance."

Major government actors include the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida), which is responsible for managing and distributing a significant portion of Sweden's development assistance.
