Billeddynamik (image dynamics) is a term used in Danish visual arts and photography to describe the perceived energy and motion within an image, produced by the interaction of light, color, composition, and subject matter.

It encompasses how elements guide the viewer's eye, create tempo, and convey mood; it is distinct from technical exposure but interacts with it.

Key components include tonal range and contrast, color saturation and temperature, lighting direction, perspective, depth, motion cues (sharp vs. blurred), framing and crop, and scale relationships.

While billeddynamik concerns perceived energy, dynamic range refers to brightness range; both affect the image's impact.

Practitioners develop billeddynamik through composition choices, subject selection, camera settings, and post-processing; critique focuses on whether the image feels lively, balanced, and readable.
