biliosos

Biliosos is an adjective used in some Romance-language medical vocabularies to denote relation to bile. It is formed from bilis, the Latin word for bile, with the usual adjective suffix in these languages. The term is encountered mainly in clinical or historical texts describing bile-related aspects of anatomy, physiology, or pathology, and is less common in everyday language. In English, the closest equivalents are biliary or bilious.

In medical usage, bilioso and its plural biliosos may describe fluids, contents, or tissues that contain or pertain to bile. Examples in translation or transcription include secreción biliosa (bilious secretion), contenido bilioso (bilious content), or vómito bilioso (bilious vomit). It is also used in phrases referring to structures of the biliary tract, such as conductos biliosos (biliary ducts) or color bilioso (bilious color).

Historical context shows that bilioso appeared in humoral and early medical literature to describe conditions attributed to an excess or imbalance of bile, sometimes linked to a bilious temperament.
