Bigenderism refers to a gender identity where an individual identifies as two genders. These genders can be experienced simultaneously or may fluctuate over time. For some bigender individuals, these two genders are binary, such as male and female. For others, the genders may be non-binary or a combination of binary and non-binary genders. The experience of bigenderism is unique to each person.

The term itself breaks down into "bi," meaning two, and "gender." It falls under the broader umbrella of non-binary identities, which are gender identities that are not exclusively male or female. Individuals who identify as bigender may use different pronouns depending on which gender they are expressing at a given time, or they may use singular "they" pronouns consistently. Some may also choose to use specific neopronouns.
