berylryhmä
Berylryhmä refers to a group of silicate minerals characterized by their hexagonal crystal structure and chemical composition based on the general formula Be3Al2(SiO3)6. The most well-known member of this group is beryl itself, which can occur in various colors due to the presence of trace impurities. For example, emerald is green beryl colored by chromium or vanadium, and aquamarine is blue or blue-green beryl colored by iron. Other varieties include morganite (pink), heliodor (yellow), and red beryl (though extremely rare). These minerals are typically found in granitic pegmatites and some metamorphic rocks. Beryl is valued for its gemstones, particularly emerald and aquamarine, and is also a source of beryllium, a lightweight and strong metal used in aerospace and other high-tech industries. The hardness of beryl on the Mohs scale is typically 7.5 to 8, making it relatively durable.
