behoord

Behoord is a form of the Dutch verb behoren, meaning to belong or pertain. It is the past participle of behoren and appears in perfect tenses with the auxiliary hebben, as in Het heeft tot de traditie behoord (It has belonged to the tradition). In standard present tense, the form is behoort for third-person singular (Het behoort). The simple past is behoorde (Het behoorde), while the imperfect and other forms use the regular conjugation of behoren. The participle hoeford is primarily encountered in compound constructions rather than as a stand-alone finite form.
