bakpositioner

Bakpositioner, also known as posterior positions, refer to the orientation of the fetus in the uterus during late pregnancy and labor. In a bakpositioner, the fetus's back is facing the mother's abdomen. This is in contrast to the more common anterior position, where the fetus's back faces the mother's back.

The most common bakpositioner is the posterior presentation, where the occiput (the back of the baby's skull) is directed towards the mother's sacrum. While many fetuses will spontaneously rotate to an anterior position before labor begins, a persistent bakpositioner can sometimes lead to longer labor, increased back pain for the mother, and a need for interventions such as forceps or vacuum extraction.

Healthcare providers typically assess fetal position through palpation of the abdomen and internal pelvic examinations. Various techniques, including positional changes for the mother, can sometimes encourage the fetus to rotate to a more optimal anterior position. In most cases, however, labor progresses successfully even with a bakpositioner.
