It is designed to explore morphosyntactic typology within a fictional setting, featuring agglutinative morphology, a subject–object–verb base, and a phoneme inventory chosen to be accessible to readers and learners. The name Atsivelgti is the autonymous term used by its speakers for both the language and the cultural tradition that preserves it.

Phonology consists of five vowel phonemes /a e i o u/ and roughly twenty consonants, with a light syllable structure of CV or CVC. Stress falls on the penultimate syllable.
