Archéologique is a French adjective meaning “relating to archaeology,” the scientific discipline that studies past human life through material remains. The term derives from Greek archaios (“ancient”) and logos (“study”). It is used to describe sites, finds, methods, and museums associated with archaeology.

Archaeology encompasses field surveys, excavations, artifact analysis, laboratory dating and conservation, and the interpretation of material culture. Methods include stratigraphy, typology, radiocarbon dating, luminescence dating, isotopic analysis, and residue analysis.

Subfields include classical archaeology, prehistoric archaeology, historical archaeology, underwater archaeology, and landscape archaeology. The discipline increasingly integrates digital technologies such as GIS, 3D scanning, digital photography, and databases.
