This process refers to the chemical reactions that result in the formation of anhydride compounds. In the case of inorganic anhydrides, they are often formed by removing water from a metal hydroxide or an oxoacid. For organic anhydrides, they are typically formed by the removal of water from two molecules of a carboxylic acid.
