Anglophone refers to people or communities who use English as their primary language of communication, or whose social and cultural life centers on English. It can denote an individual's first language (L1) as English, or a dominant language in education, government, media, and public life. The term is widely used in linguistics, sociology, and cultural discourse to distinguish English-speaking populations from those associated with other languages, such as Francophone or Hispanophone communities.

Geographically, Anglophones are concentrated in countries where English is official or dominant, including the United Kingdom and Ireland, the United States, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand, as well as many Caribbean and African states.
