Amphiarthroosis refers to a type of cartilaginous joint in anatomy. These joints are characterized by a limited amount of movement, often described as slightly movable or amphiarthrotic. The bones in an amphiarthrosis are united by fibrocartilage or a combination of hyaline cartilage and fibrocartilage. This type of articulation allows for a degree of flexion, extension, or rotation, but not free movement as seen in diarthroses (synovial joints).
Examples of amphiarthrooses include the symphysis pubis, which connects the two pubic bones of the pelvis,
