alkaanide
Alkaanide is a hypothetical term used to describe an alkyl carbanion derived from an alkane by deprotonation. In theory, such a species would have the negative charge on a carbon center within an alkane framework, for example an alkyl anion of the form R-CH2−. The term is not standard in chemistry and does not appear in major reference works; in practice, chemists refer to alkyl carbanions or to stabilized equivalents such as organolithium or organomagnesium reagents rather than to “alkaanides.”
Stability and reactivity of a free alkaanide are highly unfavorable under ordinary conditions. Carbanions formed from
Synthesis and observation are limited to highly controlled or theoretical contexts. The concept is mainly encountered
