alfakanavien
Alfakanavien, also known as the "Alfa Canavien," is a star located in the constellation Canes Venatici, the Hunting Dogs. It is a binary star system, consisting of two stars that orbit each other. The primary star, Alfa Canis Majoris A, is a blue-white main-sequence star of spectral type B7V. It has a mass approximately 4.5 times that of the Sun and a radius about 3.5 times larger. The secondary star, Alfa Canis Majoris B, is a white main-sequence star of spectral type A5V, with a mass around 2.2 times that of the Sun and a radius about 2.5 times larger than the Sun's. The two stars are separated by about 100 astronomical units (AU) and complete an orbit around each other every 1,000 years. Alfakanavien is approximately 150 light-years away from Earth. The star system is visible to the naked eye and has an apparent magnitude of 4.26. It is one of the brighter stars in the constellation Canes Venatici and is often used as a reference point for astronomical observations.
