Aksioomisüsteeme is a term used in mathematics and logic to refer to a set of fundamental truths or starting points that are accepted as true without proof. These are known as axioms. The goal of an axiomatic system is to provide a rigorous and consistent foundation for a particular area of study, such as geometry, set theory, or number theory.

The choice of axioms is crucial, as they define the properties and behavior of the objects within the system. For example, Euclidean geometry is based on five postulates, or axioms, that describe the properties of points, lines, and planes. These axioms, when accepted as true, lead to a consistent and predictable system of geometric theorems. In contrast, non-Euclidean geometries arise from modifying or rejecting some of these axioms, leading to different geometric properties.

A well-constructed axiomatic system should be consistent, meaning it does not lead to contradictions. It should also be independent, where no axiom can be derived from the others, and complete, where every true statement within the system can be proven from the axioms.
