Airwater is not a standard scientific term, but it is sometimes used informally to describe the two-phase system that includes atmospheric air and water in its various forms. It encompasses water vapor mixed with dry air, liquid water droplets suspended in air (aerosols), and the liquid–gas boundary at surfaces such as oceans, lakes, rivers, and moist soils.

The components of airwater include water vapor, liquid droplets, and the interfaces where air and water meet. Water vapor content in air is described by humidity metrics such as relative humidity, specific humidity, and mixing ratio. The dew point is the temperature at which air becomes saturated and condensation begins. The amount of water that air can hold depends on temperature and pressure: warmer air can retain more water vapor. Evaporation transfers latent heat from water to the air, while condensation releases heat; these energy exchanges are central to weather and climate processes.

Liquid droplets in air give rise to phenomena such as fog, mist, spray, and clouds, and play a role in cloud formation, weather patterns, and aerosol dynamics. The air–water interface governs processes like heat transfer, gas exchange, and surface tension effects at bodies of water and wet surfaces. Measurement and analysis rely on hygrometers, dew point sensors, and psychrometric charts to characterize humidity and moisture interactions in environments ranging from the atmosphere to buildings and industrial systems.

Applications and relevance span meteorology, climate science, HVAC and indoor air quality, agriculture, and industrial processes such as spray drying and misting.
