Aastakeste is a fictional calendar system used in Estonian-language worldbuilding and speculative fiction. In this imagined setting, time is organized into repeating cycles called aastakeste, which are designed to reflect both the length of the solar year and the rhythms of cultural life.

The term combines the Estonian word for year with a suffix that signals segments or cycles. In the fictional lore, aastakeste are counted from a mythic origin and are roughly equivalent to calendar years. Each aastake is subdivided into four seasonal periods and a short transitional phase that links one year to the next. Some versions of the concept include a rare intercalary day or week used to keep the cycle aligned with the solar year.

Historically within the fiction, the aastakeste system emerges among early agrarian communities and is later standardized by scholarly or civic authorities. Over time, councils or chronographers regulate leap years or adjustments to keep the calendar in step with solar and celestial cues.
