Zosma
Zosma is a star located in the constellation Leo. Its Bayer designation is Delta Leonis. Historically, Zosma has been known by various names, including Chort. It is a white subgiant star with a spectral type of A5IV. Zosma is situated approximately 58.7 light-years away from Earth. It is a member of the young stellar population known as the young disk. The star exhibits slight variability in its brightness, though it is not considered a major variable star. Zosma is part of the apparent asterism known as the Sickle, which forms the head and mane of the celestial lion in Leo. Its apparent magnitude is around 2.56, making it one of the brighter stars in Leo and visible to the naked eye. The star's name, Zosma, is derived from an Arabic word meaning "the girdle."
