Zonophyto
Zonophyto is a genus of flowering plants in the family Apiaceae. The genus was first described in 1993 by Soviet botanist, Elena V. Gvazava. Plants in the genus Zonophyto are native to the Caucasus region. They are herbaceous perennials that grow in alpine meadows and rocky slopes. The leaves are typically pinnately compound, and the flowers are small and white, arranged in umbels. The fruits are small, ovoid schizocarps. Species within Zonophyto are often characterized by their adaptations to high-altitude environments, including drought tolerance and cold hardiness. Further research is ongoing to fully understand the phylogenetic relationships of Zonophyto within the Apiaceae family and to clarify the taxonomic status of its species. The conservation status of Zonophyto species varies, with some populations facing threats from habitat degradation and climate change.
