Zita

Zita is a female given name used in several European languages. Its exact origins are unclear, but the name has historical associations in Italy and Central Europe and has appeared in literature and media as a personal name.

Saint Zita of Lucca (c. 1212–1278) was a medieval Italian laywoman who lived in Lucca and became venerated as a saint. She is the patron saint of housekeepers and domestic servants; her life centered on charitable works and piety, and she was canonized by the Catholic Church.

Zita of Bourbon-Parma (1892–1989) was the wife of Charles I, the last Emperor of Austria and King of Hungary. As empress consort from 1916 until the dissolution of the empire, she remained a public figure and later lived in exile following World War I.

In popular culture, Zita the Spacegirl is the title character in a graphic novel series by Ben Hatke, illustrating the name's continued use in contemporary fiction.
