Zinsberechnung

Zinsberechnung, also known as interest calculation, is the mathematical process of determining the interest due on a sum of money, known as the principal, for a specified period of time at a given interest rate. The most common methods of interest calculation are simple interest and compound interest.

Simple interest is calculated using the formula:

Interest = Principal × Rate × Time

where the rate is expressed as a decimal and the time is in years. This method assumes that interest is calculated only on the principal amount and does not accrue on previously accrued interest.

Compound interest, on the other hand, is calculated using the formula:

A = P(1 + r/n)^(nt)

where A is the amount of money accumulated after n years, including interest, P is the principal amount, r is the annual interest rate (decimal), n is the number of times that interest is compounded per year, and t is the time the money is invested for in years. This method takes into account the interest on previously accrued interest.

The choice between simple and compound interest depends on the specific circumstances, such as the length of the investment period and the frequency of compounding. Compound interest is generally more favorable to the investor over time, as it allows the interest to grow on itself. However, it can be more complex to calculate and understand.
