Zahnpapille
The Zahnpapille, or dental papilla, is a structure that develops from the ectomesenchyme during odontogenesis, the process of tooth formation. It is a mesenchymal component of the developing tooth germ, which also includes the enamel organ (ectoderm) and the dental follicle (mesenchyme). The dental papilla is specifically responsible for the formation of the dentin and the dental pulp.
During the bell stage of tooth development, the dental papilla cells differentiate into odontoblasts. These odontoblasts
The size and shape of the dental papilla directly influence the morphology of the developing tooth crown.
