Yritystietorekisterit are official databases that collect, maintain, and provide access to information about companies, associations, and other legal entities. They serve public administration, business supervision, statistical work, and commercial transactions by offering authoritative data on the structural and legal status of entities operating in the economy.

In Finland, key components include the Trade Register (kaupparekisteri) maintained by the Finnish Patent and Registration Office (PRH) and the information held in the Yritys- ja yhteisötietojärjestelmä (YTJ), which combines data from PRH and the Finnish Tax Administration. The registers typically contain data such as the entity’s name, business identity code (Y-tunnus), legal form, domicile or registered office, contact information, and the date of registration. They may also include information on registered activities, capital, board members, managing directors, auditors, and changes to the entity’s status, such as mergers, splits, or dissolution. Depending on the register, financial statements, tax-related details, and historical changes may be recorded or linked for transparency and supervision.

The information is publicly accessible for many purposes, including due diligence, contractual checks, and statistical analysis, while personal data about individuals associated with a company are protected under applicable privacy laws.
