Yotta

Yotta- is the SI prefix used to denote a factor of 10^24. The symbol for the prefix is Y. It is used with units to express extremely large quantities, for example a yottameter (Ym) or a yottabyte (YB).

Yotta is part of the decimal prefixes for SI units defined by the International System of Units (SI). It followed zetta- (10^21) in the naming sequence and was introduced in the SI system in 1991.

Because 10^24 is a very large number, yotta-scale quantities are mainly encountered in scientific and technological contexts, such as theoretical measurements, astronomy, or discussing data-storage capacities at the high end.

Relative sizes: 1 Y is 10^24, so 1 Ym = 10^24 meters, 1 YB = 10^24 bytes when using decimal notation. The binary equivalent is different (for example, a yobibyte, YiB, equals 2^80 bytes ≈ 1.2089×10^24).
